B.B. Araya is a first-generation, Eritrean&Ethiopian-American filmmaker based in Austin, TX, whose work explores humanity through the lens of women of color, particularly of the African Diaspora. 

Her short film series, We Are, will be streaming Sundays on YouTube.com/IssaRae beginning Oct. 2017.

Upon moving to Austin in 2015, she had the privilege of interning for Academy Award nominated director, Richard Linklater, at Detour Filmproduction. 

Araya's short film BETA premiered as a part of Issa Rae's YouTube series, #ShortFilmSundays, in March 2017.

Her short film Mostly Time premiered at Babesfest during SXSW in 2016, at the Salvage Vanguard Theater. Michelle Obama was at a restaurant across the street at the time of the film's premiere which Araya chose to perceive as a sign from the universe.
